I know it is slowly wearing me down but right now it will have to until I can get some things figured out for myself for sure. It's coming, I just have to be patient.

Post-Traditional
I almost always feel like shit after I talk to my grandma. It's not like she knows that she does it but the way she compares me to other people she knows lowers my stock so much. So many other people are doing great things and it just makes my situation seem like it's my fault. I know what I want to do and cannot imagine letting her know my dreams. To her education is of the utmost importance and then getting a career, something traditional like a teacher, a nurse/doctor, or a lawyer. But that's not me I'm not traditional, I'm post-traditional. I don't know how to express this to her because it's hard to have your dreams crushed by someone who means so much to you. So I take it and it slowly eats away but I'm too afraid to let her know that.

January Top 7
Well I know it's so much later than you expected but I am here to deliver the Top 7 things I enjoyed in January.
Food - Every January the District has Restaurant week which allows residents to sample several different restaurant for a fixed price or prix fixe meal. Lunch runs you for $20.11 and dinner is $35. Many of D.C.'s best restaurants are showcased during the week-long festivities. Me and the roommate went to Bistro Bistro on Connecticut Avenue. The meal was good, but the deal was even better.
TV - I am really enjoying my new found love for the British sci-fi tv series Doctor Who. I have watched the first 3 seasons almost in their entirety. I love the concept and the storyline. Too bad right now Rose is filming Secret Diary of a Call Girl where I am in the seasons. I really cannot wait until she and the Doctor reunite. They are so much better together.
Movies - The Green Hornet came out on the 14th of January and I was super excited to see it. Syfy ran a special of the tv series The Green Hornet the week before the movie came out. I, of course, watched as many episodes as I could before I went to see the movie and I am happy that I did. Seth Rogen did a great job keeping the storyline as close to the original as possible. I loved the movie and can't wait to buy it on DVD.
Music - Brian Greenberg from the movie, Prime with Uma Thurman and Meryl Streep, and the HBO series, How to Make it in America, has recorded a track with his HTMIIA co-star Kid Cudi called You Can Run. It's an amazing find, kind like acoustic guitar and Cudi had a few lines. It's a really cool, mellow song.
Drink - This month cranberry and vodkas got the job done. It's an oldie but goodie. The main reason it makes the list is because of NYE. We had a ton of them during our festivities.
Moment - I loved that when I told the bartender at the Science Club in D.C. that he was cute he gave me and Dom like 6 drinks to take back to the table. I guess the truth will always get you farther, if the person is attractive ;).
Random - Long hair don't care is gone. :(

Welcome to the F!
31 days later and it's February. I swear it was like July last time I looked around and now it's 7 months later. Where does the time truly go? I guess when you're unemployed you have all the time in the world and nothing to fill it with. So goes the world.
I made plans for things I wanted to accomplish but have only barely began. As soon as I get in the swing of things with work I think I'll have a whole new outlook. I'll be able to do more which will make me happier and it won't be cold for much longer. I'm just excited for the new surroundings and possibilities. I'm stagnant. I even feel like I've become boring. And who wants to be "that girl"?
Top 7 coming soon...!
P.S. I have decided that I'm going to a book signing/meet and greet for a website that I frequent next week. Hope it's fun!
